HOW I WORK

Initial Session

Before starting therapy, we will have an initial session to enable us to learn about each other. This will give us a chance to discuss what is bringing you to therapy, your expectations of the work, and how the process of therapy might unfold.

The initial session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of my therapeutic style and for both of us to decide whether we are a good fit. There is no obligation to commit to further sessions.

Continuing with me

If we choose to continue together, we will talk about what you would like to gain from therapy and discuss a contract that outlines the practicalities of our work going forward. This will include information for you (e.g. outlining the boundaries of confidentiality) and details of my terms (such as our agreed fee and my cancellation policy).

Duration of our work

The duration of psychotherapy can vary depending on what you want to gain from the work. Short-term work can be used to look at a specific issue, while longer-term therapy may allow you to address more complex or deep-seated issues.

Throughout our work together we will regularly review how you are doing. This is to check in on how things are going for you, and ensure that you feel that you are getting what you need from the therapy. If either of us feels that you are ready to bring the work to an end we will put a plan in place to work towards an ending.
